QuikSound.com was established in 2024 as a Pro Audio product line by Troy Jordan.Â
Our founder has 15+ years experience as a professional software developer. Before that he studied music performance and audio engineering for four years at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music. Additionally he performed and ministered as a musician on weekends for 15+ years. His knowledge about the needs of performing musicians and about audio engineering gave him insights about how to better solve problems when it came to personal monitoring for musicians, especially for live performances.
From Java to C++
His first attempt at writing a QuikSound system was with Java, his most comfortable and familiar programming language. Due to the nature of the JVM (Java Virtual Machine) he was not able to achieve low latency audio capture, transmission, and replay at a degree that satisfied his own requirements as a musician. He then decided to dust off his C and C++ skills, sharpen them, hone them, and he achieved the performance goals with those tools.
From C++ to Objective C
Then putting on his business owner hat he thought through how he would distribute and support the software and came to the conclusion that he would either need to bundle the software with hardware or provide a lot of remote support help for users. While recognizing that support will be important, helping administrators and users self support will be more important. Additionally, applying improvements to releases in an agile manner will be very important to deliver value regularly and continue to earn the loyalty of customers.
Troy with Staci Jordan, MD
After consulting wise counsel, including his wife, he decided to rewrite the C++ server app using Apple's tools and revamp the player tools using iOS (iPad and iPhone). This would allow him to distribute through the Apple app store for macOS and iOS. He ultimately turned crucial parts of the c++ app into a library that could be embedded within an Objective C macOS application, which is the current rendition of the QuikSound low latency audio server. The complimentary personal audio mixer & player are written in iOS with plans to create an Android version once a foothold is established with iOS.
Patents Pending
In early 2025 Troy filed patent applications with the US Government for several ideas within the QuikSound system that Troy considered new innovations. He also filed for a patent on an interstellar space travel mechanism, which further shows how Troy is an inventor at heart and gets excited about innovating and inventing new things that will leave a lasting impact for future generations.
